The Lemon Cuckoo Orpington are a rare breed of orpington that has a sunny plumage pattern. The barring gene is a sex linked dominant gene causing an absence of coloration in the feathers and causing white pigment in bars on the color. It is a very interesting gene as it can be applied to a variety of colors including Buff, Lavender, Chocolate, and Black . The "Cuckoo" trait is a co-dominant gene which is why it is rare and more expensive.

They are extremely docile and friendly which makes them a perfect addition to your backyard flock. A hen should lay 200 – 250 medium brown eggs per year.
