The Ameraucana is a unique chicken. The coloring of the Ameraucana is quite variable, they can range from black to white or blue to wheaten. The variety of colors available makes this a beautiful bird. Ameraucana's eyes are a reddish bay color so they can look a bit fierce, but they are actually quite docile. They are also considered to be winter hardy. The Ameraucana are known for its’ light blue eggs. It is a moderately good layer, producing about 3–4 medium-sized eggs/week.
